Laughlin Fellowship Nomination Procedure

LAUGHLIN FELLOWSHIP NOMINATION PROCEDURE

Each separately accredited sponsoring institution may submit only one nomination.

The nominee must be a current PGY-3, PGY-4 or PGY-5 resident in general psychiatry OR a Fellow in child, addiction, forensic, geriatric, or psychosomatic psychiatry as of July 1, 2023. Psychiatry trainees in  other fellowship programs (including, but not limited to) sleep medicine, women’s mental health/reproductive psychiatry, pain, hospice and palliative care are also eligible.

The College provides a stipend to Laughlin Fellows to cover travel and hotel expenses to two Annual Meetings, held each February.

Laughlin Fellowship Selection Committee – Senior/Outgoing Fellow Appointment
The Laughlin Fellowship Committee will select an outgoing Laughlin Fellow to serve a one-year term on the Laughlin Fellowship Selection Committee.  Their contribution to the selection process will be valuable in selecting the next group of Fellows. This Fellow will also be part of a small group that will create and plan virtual activities for the Fellows throughout the year and also be a part of the planning process for the following year's Annual Meeting in February.  This appointment is done alongside a selected PRITE/CHILD PRITE Fellow.

Note:  Candidates may be nominated for either the PRITE or Laughlin Fellowship, not both in the same year. Those selected as a PRITE or Laughlin Fellow may not apply for the other fellowship in future years.

The nomination deadline is May 15, 2023.  Nominations received after that date, even though postmarked earlier, cannot be accepted.

To provide you with a better understanding of how the candidates are scored, here is the Scoring Rubric used to score candidates.  Scoring Rubric
