Target audience

This program is intended for Members of the American College of Psychiatrists, current and former Laughlin and PRITE Fellows, and invited guests.

Accreditation Statement

The American College of Psychiatrists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Credit Designation Statement

The American College of Psychiatrists designates the Annual Meeting for a maximum of 11.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Objectives

After attending the Annual Meeting, participants will be able to:

  • Manage conflicts of interest that arise in their clinical practices or research activities involving pharmaceutical or medical device relationships.
  • Instill professional and ethical principles in early career psychiatrists.
  • Maintain appropriate therapeutic boundaries with patients in the era of cyberspace and social networking.
  • Leverage a variety of emerging technologies (genetic testing, biomarkers, electronic medical records, social networking etc.) to enhance patient care.
  • Recognize the changing relationship between psychiatry and neuroscience as related to current and future etiology and the research and treatments of mental disorders.

About Annual Meetings

The American College of Psychiatrists’ Annual Meeting offers Members a chance to exchange information and participate in high-quality continuing medical education programs in a relaxed setting. More than 50 percent of the Members attend the Annual Meeting.

The College organizes each four-day Annual Meeting around a central theme. Typically, the program format includes large general sessions and smaller breakout courses.  Faculty members are leading scholars, clinicians, and researchers drawn from The College and the profession at large.
