The American College of Psychiatrists sponsors two Fellowship programs designed to recognize outstanding accomplishments by psychiatry Residents and Fellows and involve these promising young physicians in College activities and initiatives: the PRITE® Fellowship Program and the Laughlin Fellowship Program.

Each year The College selects and funds ten (10) residents from the US and Canada to attend two annual programs in February. These residents are in their 3rd, 4th or 5th year of training. They are selected from a large pool of applicants most likely to make a future contribution to the field of psychiatry. These 10 residents participate in all educational and social functions during the Annual Meeting. The experience gained by the residents is valuable to them as they experience contacts with residents from different programs in the US and with College members who are leaders in psychiatry.

Each year The College selects four residents — two PRITE® (Psychiatry Resident In-Training Examination) and two CHILD PRITE® Fellows — from the US and Canada to serve on the PRITE® Editorial Board. In order to include the views of psychiatric residents these Fellows participate as full members of the Editorial Board by contributing and editing forty (40) or more questions each year to the PRITE®. When selected they are in their second year of training or in their first year of a Child Psychiatry Fellowship. Each recipient is funded to attend the June meeting of the PRITE® Editorial Board and one annual meeting of The College.
