DESCRIPTION
The Award for Creativity in Psychiatric Education
is presented to a teaching program that demonstrates creativity in psychiatric education. The award consists of a $5,000 honorarium and a certificate. One representative from the program receives travel and hotel reimbursement and free registration at the annual meeting. A second representative receives free registration only.

Award for 2004
The American College of Psychiatrists is pleased to announce it is accepting submissions for the 2004 Award for Creativity in Psychiatric Education. The Award is in the form of a grant from Eli Lilly of $5,000 and is presented to the winning program at the Annual Meeting of The College held in Miami Beach, Florida, February 2004. The winning program's representative and a companion are invited to attend the Annual Meeting, as guests of The College.

METHOD OF SELECTION
Eligibility

The Award is open to any creative/innovative program for psychiatric education which has been in operation for at least two years, and which has been a part of a U.S. or Canadian approved psychiatric residency training program. Trainees may include:

  1. Medical students
  2. Psychiatric residents
  3. Sub-specialists (PGY 5-6's/Fellows)
  4. Post-graduates (CME)
  5. Allied mental health professionals
  6. Community involvement (public participation)

Criteria
The program will be judged according to the following criteria:

  1. Creativity and innovation
  2. Contribution to a significant educational issue
  3. Effectiveness
  4. A potential model for other programs

Site Visit
Based on the above criteria, selected programs will be site visited between March and June, 2003.

Schedule
December 12, 2002: Application due
March-June 2003: Site visits to selected programs
November 2003: Winner announced
February 2004: Award presentation at The College's Annual Meeting
